I love shooting film. It's no secret, but I can't shut up about it. I'll shoot digital for anything professional, but film photography is my hobby. When the two meet, it's a blast.
Lately I've been taking pictures for my fiancée's company. It's been an amazing opportunity and improved my photography considerably. My trusty 5D had served me well, but it's been very satisfying to use old film bodies to take pictures behind the scenes using modern lenses.
Recently we did a shoot on Napa and I put a roll of Portra 400 in a glitchy film camera, and took some of my favorite photos ever. The look and feel of film is so hard to beat with digital cameras, and the no-pressure nature of it makes for some beautiful photographs. If they don't come out, no big deal. If they do, I'm rewarded with a gorgeous image that will last for a long long time and is backed up physically.
