Yesterday I had the house to myself for a couple hours before work. Normally I'd take such an opportunity to pull up some On Demand and wait around until it was absolutely necessary to leave the house. However, having just read David Hobby's Avatar post I decided that my Brand should feature the same photo anywhere I show up on the internet. After a quick set up and photo shoot (getting yourself in focus is a pain in the rear) I was able to start editing and uploading. The whole process took maybe 90 minutes from start to finish, and that's mainly a function of having to get up and look at what I'd gotten every few shots. I'm pretty happy with the results:
As much as I've sneered at the idea of selling myself as a photo brand, it's looking more and more like I can't be taken seriously as a photographer if I don't at least have my shit together like all the other serious photographers. I realized it's not a matter of changing who I am and "selling out," it's a matter of telling people in a concise, coherent manner exactly who i am. At least I think. I'm still pretty new to the whole marketing side of things so I could be way off base, but for now I'm excited about the prospect of having my entire image just a little bit more cohesive.
Oh and did I mention I have an official twitter account now? It can be found by clicking on this phrase: daisy dukes. Please follow and retweet my Branding material! Thanks!
